The directors of the company, who proposed this project, belong to the family of foreign qualified doctors from the United States of America. They constitute a family of mixed group of Pakistan and American Doctors Specialists in different fields of medicine.
The head of the group / family is Dr. Mohammad Rafique Chaudhry who graduated (M.B,B.S.) from the King Edward Medical College Lahore, Pakistan in 1958 and proceeded to the United States of America for higher studies and specialization in medical sciences. He got his M.D. from America in 1959. He spent three years from January 1959 to December 1961, for medical residency in medicine, radiology, pulmonology and cardiology and another three years for Fellowship in Endocrinology and Metabolic diseases sponsored by National Institutes of Health, USA.
He enrolled for a joint Ph.D. Program of Clinical Pharmacology designed by the Department of Pharmacology, College of Medicine Howard University and Department of Medicine of Freedmen’s Hospital and this culminated in the Award of Ph.D. in Clinical Pharmacology in 1968. The same year, he was taken on the faculty as Assistant Professor of Medicine, and Department of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics, College of Medicine Howard University where he was already serving as an instructor since 1967. He also served as “Director of Endocrine and Diabetic Clinics” in District of Columbia General Hospital, the largest federally run hospital in USA from 1967 to 1970.
Because of his vast education in basic medical and Clinical Sciences & extensive training in medicine and its several specialties, he completed the requirements of all the Medical Boards and earned Boards Eligibility for two Boards, the American Board of Internal Medicine and the Board of Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada. He was awarded, “Certificate of Full Registration” 10 October 1968, for England and Wales by the British General Medical Council, Registration No.1271526.
In 1970, he returned to Pakistan after 12 years stay, from the USA, and put up a First Modern Private Hospital by the name of Gulberg Hospital in Lahore Pakistan, which was run by foreign qualified specialists in all fields of Medicine. This hospital played a leader- ship role and actively participated in the development of National Health System in Pakistan. In the Indo-Pak war of 2001, it was the only hospital which was made a Casualty Centre in the Cosmopolitan City of Lahore and also served the cause of Pakistan by providing treatment facilities to the Visiting Dignitaries of Muslim Umma in the Islamic Summit held in 1973.
In 1971 he was appointed as a Assistant Professor of Pharmacology and Therap- -eutics in King Edward College Lahore. In 1977 he was appointed Guest Lecturer to give lectures to the M. Phil and FCPS classes.
In 1973, because of the qualifications & versatile training in the USA, he was appointed Chief Medical Advisor of State Life Insurance Corporation of Pakistan, which was incorporated in 1973 by nationalizing sixteen privately owned life Insurance companies. He remained Chief Medical Advisor from 1973 2012.
Dr. Chaudhry has vast teaching experience and has taught the subjects of Medicine, Clinical Pharmacology,Pharmacy, Endocrinology, Insurance Medicine & Cardiology to not only undergraduate and graduate students but also Post- Doctoral students at the level of Fellowship and Ph.D. He also served as a Advisor of the Master & Ph.D students.
Dr. Chaudhry got several important Fellowships of the American Colleges like, Fellowship of American College of Physicians, Fellowship of the American College of Clinical Pharmacology, and Fellowship of National Institute of Health. He has memberships of American Society of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics, Membership of the American Medical Association, Membership of the Endocrine Society and the Professional Membership of American Diabetes Association.
He is a Member of “Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare in America”; a Member of “Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare in Asia and a Member of International Society of “Who’s Who” Geneva Switzerland.
In last few years, our family has turned toward establishing the Pharmaceutical Industries. My children(daughter Dr. Sahira Rafique & son- in – law) have already established a pharmaceutical industry in the USA by the name of HNC, which deals in “Herbal and Halal Neutraceutical Products” and these are already marketed in America and Gulf countries. The HNC is certified by the American as well as Malaysian Societies for the purity of Halal Products.
